Shipping & Delivery Policy

Ryda arranges last-mile delivery for food orders, shop purchases, and peer-to-peer parcels using our network of verified okada (motorbike) and aboboyaa (tricycle) riders. This policy explains where we deliver, how long it takes, what it costs, and what happens when something goes wrong.

1. Service area

Ryda currently operates in Accra and Kumasi, with expansion to other Ghanaian cities rolling out. Delivery is only available within the coverage zone shown at checkout; addresses outside the zone cannot be served and the order will not be accepted.

2. Fulfilment model

Ryda is not a fulfilment centre. We do not hold, warehouse, or store vendor inventory. Every order is prepared or packed at the vendor's registered pickup address and a Ryda rider is dispatched to collect it and deliver it directly to the customer's chosen address. For peer-to-peer Send parcels, the rider collects from the sender's address and delivers to the recipient.

3. Delivery times

  • Food orders: typical door-to-door time is 25–45 minutes, depending on the vendor's prep time and distance.
  • Shop orders: typical door-to-door time is 30–60 minutes.
  • Send parcels: dispatched on demand; delivery time depends on distance.

Delivery times are estimates. Traffic, weather, rider availability, and vendor prep delays can extend them. The live ETA in the app is always the most up-to-date estimate.

4. Delivery fees

Delivery fees are calculated at checkout based on distance, vehicle type (okada or aboboyaa), and current demand. The full fare is shown upfront before you confirm the order — there are no hidden charges added afterwards. Fees may be paid from the Ryda wallet or via Mobile Money.

5. Live tracking

Once a rider accepts your order, you can track their live location, see their name and vehicle, and follow the ETA in the Ryda app from pickup to drop-off.

6. Proof of delivery

Delivery is confirmed in the app by the rider marking the order as completed at the drop-off location. For higher-value parcels, the rider may request that the recipient confirm receipt in person before the order is marked complete.

7. Failed or unsuccessful delivery

An order may fail to deliver if:

  • The recipient cannot be reached at the pickup or drop-off address after reasonable attempts.
  • The address is incorrect, incomplete, or outside the service area.
  • The recipient refuses the delivery.

When delivery fails through no fault of Ryda or the vendor, the delivery fee is non-refundable. For perishable food orders, the order value is also non-refundable once prepared. For non-perishable shop orders, the customer may request a re-delivery (a new delivery fee applies) or a refund of the goods value if the vendor can return them to stock.

8. Damaged or missing items on arrival

If items are missing or damaged when they arrive, report it through the app's Claims flow within 24 hours of delivery. See our Refund & Returns Policy for how these cases are handled.
